Fierce Flix is a summer film camp open to trans, non-binary, queer, and femme youth ages 8-16. No experience is necessary and we supply all the video equipment!  No student will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Over the course of a week, campers will work in groups to write, direct, shoot, and edit music videos for local bands! The music videos will premiere at a public screening at the end of the camp. Each day, campers will attend video shoots, filmmaking instruction, workshops, and a mini-screening and Q&A with a filmmaker from a marginalized gender group.  Throughout the week, campers are encouraged to work together, support each other, and foster one another’s unique creative abilities through positive reinforcement. Our workshops include screenwriting and storyboarding, cinematography, editing, optics and lights, gear 101, THEIRstory of filmmaking, gender in media, visual literacy, and more!

Camp Dates: June 19-23, 2023

Camp typically takes place over the last full week of June.

Tuition for the week of camp is $200 sliding scale. Campers are accepted on a first come/first served basis – if you’ve submitted an application, YOU’RE IN! We provide a free healthy lunch and snacks to campers throughout the week, as well as all the equipment they need to make their videos!

Tuition

Fierce Flix asks that tuition be paid by the start of camp to ensure your camper has a spot. Tuition payments can be made by

1. By paying with cash or check in person at an upcoming event. You can also email fierceflixcamp@gmail.com to arrange a time to meet up to pay tuition.

2. By paying through Paypal. You can make a payment to mechanicaleyemicrocinema@gmail.com – but please use the “Friends and Family” option (this is not the default – you have to choose it) – otherwise it takes a $5 fee from every full tuition transaction! Please put your camper’s name in the notes section, or we won’t know who you’re paying for!
